KADDO: Gifts That Give Back

KADDO, named after the Indonesian word for "gift" (kado), is a social enterprise online gift shop with a mission to spread joy and empower positive change. We believe the act of gifting is beautiful because it expresses love and generosity.

Our motto, "blessed to be a blessing," reflects our core value of giving back. As Winston Churchill said, "We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give."

Supporting a Cause You Care About

At KADDO, we're passionate about fighting against human injustice. That's why we proudly support A21, a leading organisation working to abolish human trafficking. With every purchase you make, you're not only giving a thoughtful gift, but you're also contributing to a brighter future.

OUR JOURNEY

A Life-Changing Encounter

In 2007, Dahlia attended a Women's conference in Sydney. A powerful documentary, "Invisible Children," unveiled the horrifying reality of Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and their abduction of children in northern Uganda, forcing them into child soldiery.

The documentary was a stark wake-up call. Witnessing the unthinkable acts inflicted on these innocent children—their stolen dreams and shattered hopes—ignited a fire within Dahlia. These children, no different from any others, deserved love, care, and a chance to pursue their aspirations.

The MY SHELTER Project

Driven by a strong sense of justice, Dahlia decided to raise awareness for children who escaped LRA captivity. Her ambitious goal: raise AUD $19,000 in just 6 months to build a home for these vulnerable children in Gulu village. Thus, the MY SHELTER project was born. To ensure accountability and maximize impact, she partnered with WATOTO, a well-established non-profit with a proven track record of rescuing and supporting victims on the ground. Despite her lack of fundraising experience, her determination was unwavering.

The old proverb, "where there is a will, there is a way," proved true. This initiative quickly launched, bringing many individuals together. This was truly the POWER OF TOGETHERNESS! In just 6 months, they raised nearly AUD $40,000. From this experience, Dahlia discovered her passion: seeing injustice turned around. It made her realize that an ordinary person like her could indeed be a voice for the voiceless.

A New Season, An Enduring Passion

Years passed, and seasons of life changed, but Dahlia's passion for making a difference to the less fortunate continued to burn. In 2011, she watched a documentary on human trafficking, revealing children as young as six—or even younger—being sold into the sex industry. This was unacceptable—not for children, and not for adults. Bodies should never be treated as commodities.

In April 2016, Dahlia founded KADDO, an online gift shop. KADDO is committed to supporting the mission of A21, an organization dedicated to reaching, rescuing, and restoring victims of human trafficking and bringing justice back to those affected.
